JTS Pork Crackling with Apple
Sauce Dip
In
August 2007 JTS launched the JTS Pork Crackling with Apple Sauce
Dip. The product is essentially an addition to the already very
successful JTS range of pork scratchings and crunch.
This
is a unique concept combining our own JTS Pork Scratchings with
a delicious apple sauce dip, the scratchings are hand selected
and packed with the dip in a neat ready to use container and foil
sealed for freshness. We feel this is a novel way of reproducing
the great British tradition of roast pork and apple in a snack
format.
The
snack market is continually evolving and we feel this product
ensures that JTS has a presence in the ‘dip market’
which is growing rapidly. We have found that sales of more substantially
sized snacks are on the rise as a result of the implementation
of the smoking ban, people are snacking and sharing more as they
feel more comfortable in the smoke free pub and club environment.
Sales
have been extremely encouraging since the launch and many customers
are stocking and re-ordering the product. We are confident that
the originality and quality of the product should ensure it becomes
a huge success.
The
current suggested retail price is £1.00 per 70g tub which
come packed in 6’s, the product is not subject to V.A.T.

JTS Snack Foods Ltd – Tadley
In
March 2007 JTS acquired a small privately owned van sales operation
in Tadley, just south of Reading. This business operated two vans
providing essentially the same products and service as that offered
by JTS.
We
felt that this was a logical means to enlarge our business in
terms of both turnover and geography. We have retained the depot
and depot manager, giving JTS a real presence in another region
of the country, the two vans have continued as before and with
the extra support available to them as a result of being part
of a larger establishment they have been able to increase their
product range and attract new business.
Prior
to the acquisition of the Tadley depot, JTS was only able to offer
it’s products and service to a range of customers which could
be sensibly catered for from it’s Cheddar depot, time constraints
and fuel costs meant we could only consider sending our vehicles
eastbound on the M4 as far as Swindon. Our depot and vehicles
in Tadley now provide us with the opportunity to approach and
supply outlets in many other areas. Through serving the existing
customer base acquired in Tadley, JTS instantly had vehicles and
salesmen active in a far wider geographic area. We feel that JTS
is now in a position to be considered seriously as a competitive
supplier of it’s service and products to the licensed and
retail trade in many more towns and cities, Reading, Basingstoke,
Newbury, Southampton, Oxford, Hungerford, Swindon and Salisbury
to name just a few.
We
are very pleased with the progress already made, the take-over
has been seamless and we have definitely established a strong
foothold in a new area which links naturally to our Cheddar operation,
Bob, Tony and Steve have settled well into the JTS family and
have helped ensure the take-over has been smooth and successful.
JTS is now in a position to offer its products and service competitively
and professionally to customers from as far apart as Cornwall
and Berkshire.

Tyrrell’s
Potato Chips
At
the end of April 2007 JTS Snack Foods were delighted to add an
exciting new range of potato chips to their existing product range.
Tyrrell’s is a unique manufacturer and distributor of potato
chips in the UK, they can claim to be the only company to grow
their own potatoes on their own home farm and turn these into
quality gourmet hand cooked chips on the same site. Tyrrell’s
can proudly claim that…
…It’s
not unusual for a potato to be dug in the morning and turned into
chips by the afternoon…
We
feel this concept is very innovative and it provides JTS with
an interesting alternative to the other range of potato chips
available on the market. The quality of the product is exceptional
and the Tyrrell’s brand is already well established in the
premium potato chip sector.
JTS
has been delighted with the success of the Tyrrell’s range
and has enjoyed excellent support from Tyrrell’s, sales have
progressed to the degree that JTS decided to add the Tyrrell’s
logo to it’s fleet of vehicles, the first time for some years
that a new manufacturers name had been added.
